The Air Jordan 19 was designed by Tate Kuerbis and the inspiration for it came from the deadliest snake the black mamba. Two original colorways where released: white/flint grey and black/red. Three regional colorways and three special edition colorways were released. They consisted of the East, West, and Midwest edition for regular and West, East, and Olympic for the SE (special edition). Never before seen on a basketball shoe was a material called tech flex, which is used in the automobile industry. They feature a brown / khaki colorway constructed from a nubuck / durabuck type material. The side panels feature stitching design which run vertically down the sides, and help draw attention to an otherwise bland design. The low top versions consist of features such as a quick lace system and an outsole which features a solid, modified version of the herringbone pattern, which provides great traction on the hardwood, as well as new flex groove details for added flexibility.
